After seeing my post about the deep discount on the Lytro Illum Devanee wants me to get one. To be fair, as I did point out, it did cross my mind that I probably should get one at ‘that’ price — though the current ‘non-rebate’ price is $449. So when Devanee says I should get one all the domestic dynamics change! Devanee is nobody’s fool when it comes to cars and cameras! She has worked it out that IF she encourages my taste then she can benefit from that. And there is no harm in that — and she has an MGB and a Canon Rebel T3i to prove it, with another Jag to come!

So when Devanee says I should get one … the mother stays mum. Plus Deanna is convinced that I am going to get ANOTHER camera for Christmas! She has come to the conclusion, I do not know how or why, that I am addicted to cameras. Am I?

I really, really wasn’t going to get another one this year. Seriously. But now that Devanee says I should get a Lytro Illum …

Did some reading on the Lytro Illum last night. Kind of what I suspected. It appears to be pretty USELESS in the two areas that matter most to me … landscape and low light.

But the whole notion of REFOCUS appeals to me — tremendously. Plus I am a great fan of Panasonic since my Lumix FZ1000 proved to be such a huge success. I realize that the Panasonic Lumix DMC-G7 is the BIG BOY version of my FZ1000. But I really don’t want to get into interchangeable lenses again with anything LESS than APSC. Hence my PLAN to wait for the Fuji X-T2

But then there is the Panasonic LUMIX DMC-FZ300K! Great ZOOM up to 600mm, 5 axis stabilization and a CONSTANT max. aperture of f2.8. This camera — now with REFOCUS via firmware — could BE perfect for me BUT for the sensor size. 1/2.3″ sensor. YIKES. That is SO, SO SMALL. But then again 99% of the pictures I take are for use on the Web. I can get away with a small sensor. OK. If on Cyber Monday, i.e., tomorrow, or before Christmas, I see the FZ300 BELOW $500 I will get one.

Promos for this show comes up when we watch ‘Americas Funniest Videos‘ (AFV), probably the ONLY broadcast TV show we watch on a regular basis. Yesterday I set up the DVR to record the series. As YOU know we are suckers for “The Great British Bake Off” and have already finished watching Season 6 on YouTube because we couldn’t wait for it to appear on PBS.

I have heard mixed stories, mainly unflattering, about the US ‘spin off’ (and I will refrain from calling it the ‘rip off’). I note that Paul Hollywood, the MALE co-star of the BBC version, is MISSING. That alone is a huge difference. Paul, of course, with his pithy comments adds so much to the show and he KNOWS his baking. Having a non-baker as the male co-star might not work.

We will see. So a heads up.

Good News. Open House is OPEN TODAY, Sunday, November 29, 2015.
Do yourself a FAVOR and GO.
North Barnstead Road.

** ** ** ** **

“Sawyer’s Open House” craft fair is now on our MANDATORY annual list. It is one of Deanna’s favorite events of late. We have been going, without fail, for the last 4 years (at least). So it was no different yesterday, Saturday, November 28, 2015 — start of the post Thanksgiving Weekend. Though we had a number of things to do, Wolfeboro Christmas Parade and Christmas Tree Lighting among them, per Deanna we had to first go to Sawyer’s — and that, of course, is what we did.

It is always a delight and an unqualified pleasure. I love taking pictures there. So much color, design, form and creativity. Deanna and the kids do the shopping. It is funny. I looked at my pictures from 2013 and 2014. I take the same pictures each year BECAUSE I like the subject, e.g., Steve Barton’s magnificent ‘Wavy Frame’ orange farm (above and below).

Wonderful place. GREAT people (and they take credit cards). Go. IF you get to within 5 miles YOU will find signs. SMILE. So here are some of my pictures.

Enjoy.

Beautiful place. Wonderful ambience.
Great artifacts.

The Steve Barton MASTERPIECE.
To say that I LOVE this piece would not come
CLOSE to capturing my fondness for it.

All taken with my Panasonic Lumix FZ1000.
JPEGs, as usual, with no post-processing, whatsoever.
Straight out of the camera.

November 28, 2015, the Saturday after Thanksgiving
was a rather active day in terms of picture taking.
I ended up taking 255 usable pictures using BOTH cameras,
vis. the Panasonic Lumix FZ1000 & the Sony RX100 M2.
We went to a craft fair and the Wolfeboro Christmas parade
followed by an early dinner.

So I am doing 2 sets of 6 images for Nov. 29, 2015,
one from each camera.

Original 5472 x 3648, ~7Mb,
JPEGs reduced to 1024 x 683, 398Kb, for display here.
So v. low resolution. Sorry.
NO post-processing whatsoever.
Straight JPEGs out of the camera.

Split between Barnstead & Wolfeboro, New Hampshire.

Enjoy. Thank YOU.
