WOW!

When I moved to New Hampshire in the Fall of 1986, 30 years ago, there weren’t that many non-whites. NH, alongside Vermont, was one of the whitest states in the Union. There weren’t too many Democrats in NH either. I know. My then wife, from Massachusetts, had the New Ipswich Town Hall, in early 1987, in a tizzy when she asked to register as a Democrat. They actually asked her to come back later! There words, after 15 – 20 minutes of scurrying around: “We are sorry, but we haven’t had anybody wanting to register as a Democrat for so long, we can’t locate the ledger for the Democrats”! I kid you not. 1987. Computerization was in its early days in rural towns like New Ipswich. It was by solving a computer problem that they were having, with their property tax system, that I finally got full unreserved acceptance in that town.

10 years later, in 1997, I had lunch in Meredith, with lady who worked for a dot.com company, who told me that I was the FIRST non-white person her 6-year old daughter had met!

So this is BIG. The Indians, from what I can see, are staying at or below Concord. Mainly Nashua, Manchester and points South of that area.

Somalis to Maine. No wonder Craigslist for Maine is full of racist taunts.

And Canadians to Vermont. Jeez! What next. No wonder Bernie Sanders wants to run for President.

For the last two weeks, all day, starting at 7am, it has been a constant barrage of chainsaws screaming, chippers chipping and heavy trucks trundling by with wood chippings and logs.

These pictures don’t do justice PLUS I didn’t trespass into where the major deforestation is taking place. This is a huge, 45 acre+, lot.

I am very pragmatic when it comes to trees being cut down. I do appreciate that it is a renewable source and that all of New Hampshire is said to be in its 3rd, yes 3rd, tree growth cycle.

I do not begrudge anybody from trying to make money. Making money is a noble endeavor. When I owned land I had thought about selling logging rights for money. So, I am NOT complaining.

Just sharing something than many, not living in central NH, may not realize.

I do see the irony. Oil prices are way, way down.

Firewood prices are UP and it has to do with Fracking.

What a world.

Sachin Tendulkar & Shane Warne rang the opening bell at the NYSE this morning.
That is HOW I found out about this — not living in NYC, LA or Houston.

This is GREAT news. Cricket, given the MILLIONS of Indians, Sri Lankans and Pakistanis now living in the U.S., not even mentioning the Brits and Aussies, has a HUGE — but low still low profile — following in the U.S. You can see multiple cricket games, being played with gusto, in any of the major U.S. cities from May to October. When we went to Philadelphia in May (to pick up the Jaguar XJ8) we saw at least 4 games in progress right in the heart of the city.

So this good. I am glad. I hear that the prices are quite high, $100+ at some venues and even higher. That is a shame. It is the kids that we need at these games.

Right now I get so much cricket that I cannot keep up! A real problem. I am TRYING to watch, even in just Highlight form, Australia v. New Zealand 1st Test, Pakistan v. England 3rd Test and Sri Lanka v. West Indies WOMEN ODIs. Given that I can only justify devoting about 80 minutes a day to cricket, I just can’t keep up. I am missing much of the India v. South Africa series. Yes, this is all on the Roku via Sling.

I will try and keep you posted on this. Not sure whether they will show this on ESPN.
