This, as I said yesterday, is now my greatest fear as to what could happen after the planned Sunday, August 23rd, 2015, Hampton Beach, New Hampshire, Free the Female Nipple” extravaganza. IF NH starts enacting NEW female topless legislation it would be such a SHAME. Regressive.

The irony of ironies.

A “Free The Nipple” movement, making a fuss when the nipple is ALREADY FREE, causes the Nipple to be legally banned.

Then what?

The more I think about it the more I am getting perturbed and agitated.

The female nipple is New Hampshire, as it should be, is already FREE.

Free is as a bird.

Other than in Laconia, NH, there are no topless laws to STOP females from going topless.

It is NOT the nipple that is NOT free, it is the women who are reluctant to EXERCISE their FREEDOM.

The Nipple is already FREE.

There is no need for a show and tell, a song and dance, just do what you want topless.

IF the Hampton event leads to legislation I will be so bummed.

Talk about taking victory, which is already here and present, and feeding it to the jaws of defeat.

Why? Oh, WHY?

I am dreading Sunday. It could be the DARKEST DAY for female toplessness in NH.

IF as a result of the well intended “Free the Female Nipple” movement emancipation event planned for Sunday, August 23rd, 2015, at Hampton Beach, New Hampshire, new laws are enacted to restrict toplessness in N.H. it would be a crying shame.

That is my fear now. We could see a vicious backlash. Today, other than in Laconia with its City-specific ordinance, toplessness is not against the law — as befits the “Live Free, Or Die” State.

I would be so upset if they start putting caveats or limits on the toplessness laws — specially SINCE folks never really got around to enjoying what the law provides.

Something about the Hampton event always seemed incongruous to me. It would have made huge sense if female toplessness was against the law. But an event like that when there is no law against it is asking for attention — and in this case potential trouble.

They could probably get some laws passed in Concord, in 2016, given the current makeup of the legislature. I would really like to know where Governor Maggie Hassan stands on this. I would have tried to get her support before the event.

To me, ‘we’ should have just pushed the envelope on the permitted toplessness all across the state every day. In Europe you go to a beach or a park and you are likely to see topless women — maybe even folks, of both genders, nude. No fuss. No big deal. That is what the good ladies should have done in New Hampshire. A gradual but concerted effort to introduce and integrate toplessness in the state.

Any backlash we get will be because of the SHOCK-VALUE of the event — which is what the organizers are hoping for. Ironic. C’est la vie. The die is cast.

This letter, protesting the Hampton event is interesting in that it says what I think.
We should have gone for a gradual integration.
