“The Laconia Daily Sun”

Pretty amazing stuff. And just ~30 miles from here. I could never afford to make it to Medjugorje plus that is ‘only’ a Marian apparition. This is the real McCoy. Talks to him every day. Bet the pope is going to be beside himself (if you get what I mean). I am fairly sure that God doesn’t even speak with Francis once a month! Moreover, God answers him. Wow. Wouldn’t Francis just love that. Finally get some answers from God.

And this guy, John Demakowski, has seen his face. Wow. For the sake of Christ why doesn’t he share this with us. I want to know what God looks like. Did Michelangelo get it right? I am pretty sure that God never appeared to him or spoke to him — and IF anybody deserved to be visited by God, it had to have been Michelangelo who did so much to glorify his cause.

I have seen letters by Mr. Demakowski, in the Sun, before. But I do not recall him mentioning that he had seen God or that God speaks to him daily. I am sure I would have remembered.

That sentence about how God makes promises and keeps them intrigued me. I am just wondering if these are just the promises between God and his latest prophet on Earth, John Demakowski, in Franklin, New Hampshire. I will have to run this by some of my Jewish associates. I am sure they will be glad to hear that because I think there were some promises made way back.

Anyway, I can arrange pilgrimages, of any size, from anywhere in the World, to Franklin, New Hampshire. Just contact me. I accept all credit cards (major and minor), PayPal and BitCoins. So forget all those now redundant places of pilgrimage. Come to lovely New Hampshire to visit the latest shrine in Franklin. Don’t think twice about the snow. God wanted a change from the Middle East. Too hot and dusty. Franklin is peaceful. Truly God’s country.

Not sure what he is alluding to in his paragraph two. I am sure Josephus might have something to say about that. I think he wrote about stuff that he actually saw — which from what I think is called a contemporaneous account — from the actual time. But that is neither here nor there.

Come to Franklin. Let me arrange YOUR pilgrimage. Don’t forget, (see here >>>>), I am a Lifetime Granite State Ambassador. Who better to show you around New Hampshire and make sure you get the best seat in the house in Franklin, New Hampshire.

Sri Lanka, EVER, has only had two (2) Google Doodles,
this being the second.

This will make 20 million people, at a minimum, very happy.

I am glad. Nice boost for the country. A purple patch as I mentioned yesterday.

I had nothing to do with this 2015 Google Doodle and I applaud those that made sure Google obliged. Well done. The Doodle 2013 was my work.

This will make February 4, 2015 even more special on the Island.

You should check out this recollection post of the 1948 Independence Day — and what supposedly aired on ‘Radio Ceylon’ first thing after Independence came to be.

I did not know that they had changed the name to ‘National Day‘. I have a good inkling why and I think that it is STUPID! Changing ‘Independence’ to ‘National‘ does NOT rewrite history; disguise that Ceylon had to be granted independence. We should NOT hide the fact that we got independence, we should celebrate the Independence we won.

As I have written before, it grieves me, greatly, that for the world of me I cannot honestly remember going to an Independence Day celebration or parade during the 13 years I was there. I know I must have. My adoptive parents were so into politics and my adoptive father was a British trained and British certified Civil Servant who held all these important posts. He would have gone and he normally took me to all such events. I do remember, vividly, the Independence Commemoration Hall (below) built on the site of the original 1948 ceremony. I used to play on and around the lions. Most of the time, when I was there to frolik, it was empty. It was close to the then (original) Radio Ceylon station. My adoptive father used to do many broadcasts from there, he even, for awhile, had a regular show. From what I recall the times I we went to the Hall the most was after we had been to Radio Ceylon.

Happy Independence Day, Sri Lanka. Rejoice!

IBM’s Upcoming Layoffs In 2015 Should Focus On Getting Rid Of Quite A Bit Of Its Sprawling, Unproductive R&D.

Research & Development has for long been IBM’s strength, its sustaining force. What IBM’s R&D has given us over the last century is monumental and as such much storied. Even now IBM files more patents a year than anybody else. Its portfolio of patents, the largest in the world, probably has a book value in the TRILLIONS!

But, as all successful Sales Managers have always asked their best salespeople on regular basis: “what have you done for me TODAY?”

And if you think about it that is IBM’s underlying problem.

Luftbild_IBM_Deutschland_Research_&_Development

IBM’s sprawling Boeblingen facility in Germany. Yes, it did some good work 1970 – 1990. What has it done of late?

Since the introduction of the Personal Computer (PC) in 1981 what game-changing BIGGIE has IBM given the world?

Even with the PC it missed out. IBM didn’t give us Windows, Office or PDFs.

IBM never came up with a Search Engine, a Browser, or any of the rampaging Social Media innovations. Nada. Zilch.

Yes, they continue to make enormous and very exciting breakthroughs in the semiconductor area and nanotechnology, but it is not a player in the mobile field.

IBM Watson, a work in progress that has been in the works for at least 25 years, is indeed very promising AND if IBM has a clue it would ask Watson what IBM should do with Watson. Very simple. Given that IBM’s highly compensated executives are floundering about, clueless, they might as well see if Watson’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) can help them get some bearings.

IBM, to be fair, as two types of research: Pure Research that does the esoteric far-out stuff, and Applied Research that supposedly should be working on tactical solutions.

But, these days it is Google, Apple, Facebook, Amazon, Instagram that is doing all the cool stuff. Driverless cars? Google. Virtual reality goggles? Google. When was the last time you heard IBM talked about in terms of a ‘must have’ product. We get all this frenzy when Apple calls a product announcement. When was the last time you heard of an IBM announcement?

ibm-la-gaude-lg

IBM’s scenic La Gaude facility in the French alps. They have been screwing up since the 1990s. One word: N(bloody)Ways! Case Closed. Facility should be closed too. Sell the campus to a property developer. IBM could get BILLIONS.

IBM can no longer afford to be sentimental.

They have to cut much and they have to cut deep.

They should totally get rid of some of the now totally redundant and unproductive European Laboratories! They no longer have a time and place in the IBM World. IBM bet on so many lost causes: OS/2, OSI, ATM, APPN, WebSphere …. Now it is time to pay the piper. Shutter some of these facilities. Liquidate the assets. Sell the lands. Give the poor shareholders a break.

More Critical Flaws In Adobe Flash, 3rd In A Month, More Updates — This Is Diabolical.

Three flaws of the SAME type, the so called ‘zero-day’ vulnerability, in a month. This beyond crazy. What exacerbates this is all the FAKE Adobe Flash UPDATES popping up. People don’t know what updates are real and which ones are fake. Even Deanna fell to a fake update and she tends to be diligent and careful (because I keep on telling her to be careful as to what she installs on her PC).

This is inexcusable on the part of Adobe. They have to do much, much better. If I was in charge of Adobe Flash software I would have fired the whole bunch of them by now and outsourced all of it to India. I am an old school programmer (who coded BAL Assembler in pen). In the 1970s and 1980s, at IBM, we could not have got away with sloppy code like this — and even worse not catching all the RELATED bugs when the first one was reported. In my opinion Adobe Flash was always a pain, a joke, an abomination. Steve Jobs, as he invariably was, was right. Flash sucks. It has no place in 21st century IT. We don’t have Flash on Apple mobile devices or on Androids and we get by. We should all take a stand against bloody Flash.

Ditto Java. Another disgraceful, flaw-ridden abomination. I ONLY put up with Java because I need it for my essential, and beloved, JPL Small Solar System Object orbit tracker.

Be careful with both Adobe Flash and Oracle Java. They will both screw you. But most of all be careful of these FAKE updates. Right now, I know, that there are millions of folks around the world with infected PCs. That could be trouble for all of us.

Sri Lanka Independence Act 1947

February 3rd is obviously a sad day.

I find it ironic, but symbolic too, that Ceylon got its independence essentially hours after the Mahatma was cremated. Growing up in Ceylon I never heard anybody mention that India was mourning as Ceylon was celebrating.

Over the last two years ahead of Sri Lanka Independence Day I did loads of posts. Not really that much I can add this year other than this new, pivotal, document I found today. Earlier in the day I had a request from a Sri Lankan journalist to reprint some of my Independence posts in Sri Lanka! I said ‘yes’ and I am glad.

I know that most Sri Lankans are MOST concerned as to whether Google will give them another Doodle — as they did, for the first and only time, in 2012. That they got that Doodle was MY doing though quite a few others tried to take credit. That is OK. No big deal, plus I am the only one who has a published paper trail documenting my request weeks ahead. It would be nice if Sri Lanka gets another. India, as we just saw on January 26, when it was ‘India Republic Day‘, has got annual Doodles for BOTH ‘Republic Day’ and ‘Independence Day’. So I can see why Sri Lankans feel short changed.

Well, Happy Independence Day. New President. Successful Papal Visit. World Cup in the offing. Astrologers, the bane of the society, in retreat. Things are looking up. 67 years. 3 full generations. I was the first. WOW.
