This was THE map that I painstakingly handcrafted in November 2012 because I wanted to see exactly how Obama won New Hampshire.

It has proved to be a very popular Web resource heavily accessed — quite a few times by people thinking about moving to N.H.

Now that District 1 is in play, to replace dear Ray Burton, I got to thinking how District 1 fares in this ‘Red & Blue’ map. So I went ahead and drew in the, what I think of as the ‘Ray Burton Wall’, N.H.’s ‘Maginot Line’. It was a worthwhile exercise. It is a HUGE district. Fascinating red-blue split. Counting the towns alone does you nothing. It is the populations that count — and a lot of the red town around THE Lake have a lot of snowbirds. Very interesting. If I had the time I can pull up the populations and do a fairly decent ‘Nate Silver‘ on this but I don’t have the time. This map, as it stands, will have to suffice. Must finish my latest pope book.
