This is a wonderful start, but that is all it is … A START.

This pope, one of THE RICHEST MEN in the world,
with SOLE control over BILLIONS of
disposable assets must liquidate more
unneeded assets to help the poor.

As I have maintained for years
it is time for the Vatican to hold a Yard Sale
in St. Peter’s Square.

They have basements and basements and basements
chock-a-block with unseen, unused
clutter accumulated over
a thousand years.

Don’t be SO GREEDY.
Sell some of this unused clutter.

This pope is so damn popular
that he can auction of his
used socks on a daily basis!

Mark my word, there will be women and some men
that will gladly pay $3,000 per pair of
Pope Francis used socks.

We could have a whole auction site just to sell
his socks.

Think about it …

This pope can do SO, SO, SO much more
for the poor IF he really is committed to the cause.

I am NOT convinced he is.

To me he is still ALL cheap talk
and NO trousers.

Well as a family, or at a minimum the kids and I, decided last year, after we saw our first Cirque circus, Mystère in Las Vegas, that we were going to try and see as many Cirques as was possible and within our very limited means. Well last year we also got to see ‘Dralion‘ — this time in Manchester.

Yesterday, I got an e-mail that ‘Varekai‘ is coming to Manchester in June. Well, as I see it, we don’t have a choice. We have to GO — even if I have to get a loan to afford the tickets. The tickets are actually on pre-sale right now — albeit through the duplicitous ‘Ticketmaster‘. I refuse to buy tickets from them because it is but a blatant ripoff. It really is cheaper for us to drive to Manchester and get the tickets at the Box Office than pay those crooks their exorbitant mark-ups. So I now need to rustle up some money. Actually despite my ever desperate pecuniary straits I might get a couple of additional tickets! I think every kid deserves to see a good circus. So I might take a couple of other ‘kids’ in tow — like we did when we went to see the ‘Red Hot Chilli Pipers‘ (though in that case the tickets were FREE).

Maybe not a bad thing, afterall!

I probably couldn’t afford any of the items anyway. So probably for the best.
Deanna saw the ad. in the ‘Sun‘ and pointed it out to me
given that she appreciates my well known, lifelong weakness for Toy Trains!

I guess it all has to do with eBay. Local N.H. auctioneers have terrible Websites — and they don’t give a monkey’s. They do extremely well, thank you. So Web presence is not a problem. I just called up to find out whether they would have any unsold items after tomorrow’s auction. No. Everything will be sold. So, why bother with Web presence.

No SNOW. That was a false alarm.

Some light snow flurries LATE in the evening. So no worries … Head down.

Yes, that is Teischan on the right, standing up at the window of “Hei La Moon”. This was 2011 or 2012. Click to access post.

IF you plan to do Dim Sum, as you really must, where should you indulge? I have been giving this some thought to be fair to all of you, especially first time visitors.

We, and by that I include the kids too, since we have all being going there for well over 7 years, are committed fans of “China Pearl“. To us “China Pearl” is the ONLY place in town for GOOD Dim Sum, and the fact that it is always packed with at least 90% of the tables occupied by Chinese-speaking Chinese amply attests that it is THE PLACE. But, “China Pearl” is located above street level, on floors 2 & 3 of a building, and the lower floor, which is the preferred floor, has no windows of any sort! The upper floor does have a big window but all you see, from your table, is the Boston skyline.

To us, the ONLY merit of the ‘Hei La Moon’ is its uninterrupted glass wall of windows at street level. You can sit at the ‘Hei La Moon‘ and see some of the Dragon and Lion Parades parade past on the street. IF you are new to the scene, and have yet to become a Dim Sum connoisseur there is nothing wrong with starting off, this year, at the ‘Hei La Moon’. To our taste and liking the Dim Sum, especially the variety, at ‘Hei La Moon’ is sub-par to that of the ‘China Pearl’. But, I think, I can’t really remember, it is more ‘Americanized’ and the price possibly a tad lighter. BUT, if what you want is to enjoy the parades while grazing on some Dim Sum, and possibly having a preprandial Bloody Mary or a Mimosa (and PLEASE do remember it is New Year and it is expected of you to celebrate), hit the ‘Hei La Moon’.

If you want better Dim Sum and enjoy the buzz of lots of Chinese talking in Chinese and really having fun go to the ‘China Pearl’. They will probably send you upstairs. Maybe you will luck out and get a table close to the window. IF you look the part they MIGHT let you have a table on the main floor — which is, as it should be, mainly reserved for Asians — and I say that with a big, toothy GRIN. Yep, they let ME sit downstairs — as they should. We need to have a few breaks in life.
