I picked up two bottles from the N.H. Liquor Store in Portsmouth around 11 a.m. this morning. The N.H. Liquor Store in Farmington did NOT have any and claimed that they would not be carrying any!
I am writing this as I am enjoying, thoroughly, my first glass of the Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais Nouveau 2013.
Very fruity. Very pungent but pleasing aroma. Deep, rich, gratifying dark maroon as befits the Nouveau.
I think, it is slightly more tart that what it was in 2012. But, I think it is a sophisticated, complex type of tartness. Not unpleasant at all. I could call it robust and tangy.
Yes, I could imagine that a few ladies might find it a tad too tart and acidic to their liking and that is OK. Just enjoy a sip.
It is way beyond POTABLE.
It really is CHUGGABLE.
That said, you also don’t really want to chug it. It does have a very pleasant, lingering aftertaste. A mellow glow. Makes your mouth tingle.
I love it.
I bought two bottles — to be on the safe side. The first bottle will be gone by this evening.
The price has gone up a full $1 since last year. This year it is $10.99. But, we did get intimation of that — less grapes.
[P.S., Because I asked politely and I was dressed to the ‘9s’ since I was off to Portsmouth Rotary to do a presentation, they gave me a promotional flyer as a souvenir.]
I think the price is OK.
Definite, definite THUMBS and wine glass up.
Thank YOU, Georges Duboeuf.
Thank YOU, France.
