Some of you might have heard from your kids on Friday [i.e., yesterday] that they had a ‘special’ assembly that day. If you were lucky you might have been able to find out that it was about ‘Music Technology‘ and was pretty good. That much we got from Teischan.
Deanna found out that this was the ‘program’ that they got to see yesterday. Brent Daniels. Teischan who is into music was quite impressed. So that was good.

In terms of cricket channels, right at this moment, there is no difference between Dish and DirecTV. Both are only offering Willow. I haven’t checked in the last 4 hours, but I suspect that Dish will probably give you Willow for $14.95. I cancelled my entire ‘Cricket Pack’ out of chagrin — thought they claim that they will still give me a $5/month discount in addition to the nice 3 month ‘bennie’ I got when I complained that NEO was not available.
Just want to make sure that none of you switch from one to another just in the hope of getting more cricket. Will not do you any good.
Yes, I am thinking of switching to DirecTV. I have been with Dish for 3 years. All my DVR equipment is old and I pay, even without the cricket, close to $100/month — and I don’t pay for any premium movie channels.
Kind of funny. Over the last 72 hours I have ‘chatted’ on line with DirecTV. Today, I get, through the mail, a special, ‘please sign up‘ offer. Yes, I am going to check it out.
The goal of this post however is just to give you all a heads up that down the road whether you are with Dish or DirecTV might be all moot if they merge.

I thought it was great. On the money, but then again I am a great believer in the Lewis Carroll (look it up) adage that a broken watch that tells the right time twice a day is better than a watch which is a few minutes off and as such never tells the right time.
So as far as I am concerned it is good that they ‘cover’ School Board meetings in this fashion. Yes, I also know that folks that care can go and see what happened on TV or get the DVD. At least one person has told me that they watched it on TV …
“The Braysiders” total contempt for Alton residents is something else.
C’est la vie. The absolute power of the media and the other adage that, quite correctly says, that: “Power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely“. No wonder the editor boasts in print that he drives around at 90 mph. Absolute power. Just carry on giving them your money. Enjoy.

We spend 3.5 hours (and, in reality, more money than we should have), doing the rounds — though we didn’t get much beyond New Durham Road. It was good. It was fun. Some very good stuff out there. Some very nice people.
I bought 3 BIG toys including the above ‘Visible V-8 Engine’. Don’t even bother going there. I am not in my 2nd, 3rd or 4th childhood. I never stopped being a kid! OK. So, I don’t make any excuses about buying toys. This just happens to be the 3rd, ‘way, way, way beyond a bargain‘ kit that I have bought at a yard sale. But, unlike with the other two, I was a bit naughty today and bargained on the price, even though I knew from the start that the original asking price was a bargain to begin with. The difference was that there were no kids involved and the lady selling it knew exactly what she was selling. She played along. We bought a few other things anyway.
I also got two old G.I. Joe toys: the black Tiger Shark submarine and a tank. I bought them both from the same lady and she gave me a discount because of that. I was delighted with the price. Of course I don’t need them and over the years I have bought enough toys for the 4 kids not counting what I had. But I like having toys around. So, what the heck. And please do NOT worry. I am way, way too old now for a mid-life crisis. I had plenty of those starting when I was 30 and in my case none of those ever involved buying toys or sports cars. That would have been way too simple.
It was fun. We had fun. We got a late start. But that was OK.
We didn’t rely on the map too much … BUT … Steve … gone fishing?
Well, now for some work to make up for this indulgence.
