Per what is now a fairly long-standing family tradition we take the dogs, on their birthday, to the local McDonald’s (in Alton, NH) for cheeseburgers (in addition to the other times during the year they get treated at McD). Yesterday, Wednesday, July 20, 2016, was Braxton’s ‘official’ 3rd birthday. Given that he was a rescue dog we don’t know his real birthday. The vets believe that he was born around the third week of July in 2013. ‘July 20’ was Deanna’s (now deceased) father’s birthday, so she opted to make it Braxton’s official birthday since it would be easy to remember. So that is what it is.
I have no compunctions about giving dogs McD cheeseburgers! I eat them (but not the buns) and the kids eat them. If it is good enough for us, it is good enough for the dogs. I really doubt if there is anything in those (ordered plain) burgers that can truly harm my dogs. The fat, carbs and calories are NOT a problem at all. These dogs get a LOT of exercise — and the vet confirms that they are as fit as can be. They run (at least) 2.5 miles most days and now it is Summer swim in our lake, Halfmoon, for 30 – 40 minutes, non-stop, at least a couple of times a week. Actually that is what we did after the burgers. Down to the beach to swim — and no, the no swimming for 2-hours after a meal does not seem to apply to dogs.

This is trying to put them on leashes and get them out AFTER they have been swimming free, far and wide, for about 30 minutes.
This was a picture from Maya’s 3rd birthday — May 15, 2014.
Not much seems to have changed in 2 years!
