I got the above letter, obviously without the ‘red’ annotation I added, Wednesday afternoon.

Wow. They really do want me dead. Go for 5 years WITHOUT a cholesterol test! WOW. I wonder how I would get a prescription for the Lipitor, that I have been taking since 1988, which just about manages to keep my numbers from reaching stratospheric levels. 5 years. I am nearly 62 and have had high cholesterol for most of that time. Five years?

Two years without getting my blood pressure checked. Wow. I hate having my blood pressure taken — as this post will clearly illustrate. But given that I take four, yes 4, medications, NIGHTLY, for my high blood pressure I think I need to get it checked at least once a year — and a few other times, like this weekend, when I think I am having a heart attack.

C’est la vie. Anthem wants me dead. They must have heard from my doctors.

At first I was slightly puzzled. I am a customer who pays a fairly steep premium to Anthem every month — and have done so for 13 months. So why would they want me dead? A dead customer doesn’t pay premiums. Then it struck me. I am TOO great a liability. The disaster waiting to happen. They have figured out that I am high risks. So they are going have me killed.

OK, Anthem. I will see if I can oblige.

So they were right. Obamacare does have death panels to get rid of those that are deemed no longer of use and high risk.

This pope is OUT OF CONTROL. Best case he is getting senile. Worst case there is something wrong with him!

This is beyond the pale. His whole spiel about limits to Free Speech when it comes to religion and then pretending to PUNCH a person was not worthy of a mature adult, let alone a pope. That British Prime Minister David Cameron explicitly said that the pope was wrong was quite the thing.

Catholics don’t try to breed like rabbits. [Yes, the VIS ‘transcript’ doesn’t say it as such, BUT VIS is noted for editing papal remarks to make them more Catholic.] They, especially the men, are trying to do the best that they can, per their human needs and urges, given the constraints put upon them. Plus the pope is wrong. Catholics were encouraged to procreate. To accuse poor women of breeding like rabbits, when in most cases they do not have a say in the matter, is insulting and ignorant. This pope should hang his head in shame. I started off liking this pope. I am now having some serious doubts. There is something WRONG with him. He has become a NUT CASE.

All my rants about TDS exclude, by definition, the local Alton Technician, Timothy Barker,
who is OUTSTANDING. Never have any problems with Tim.

IF I could deal with Tim exclusively I would never have any problems with TDS.
Yes, Tim fixed the problem — and 100% of it had to do
with the TDS folks that provide telephone support.

This afternoon, to our horror, we discovered that our land-line from TDS Telecom has NOT been working since last Thursday! TDS had accidentally disconnected it when they were disconnecting the two 15Mbps Fiber connections I cancelled once we cut over to the MetroCast 75Mbps cable Internet service.  [By the way we have now had 75Mbps from MetroCast for 2 weeks and it has been pretty damn good. For the last week all 4 of us have been sharing that 75Mbps (over our new 802.11ac network) and I haven’t noticed any great degradation in bandwidth. I, again, monitored bandwidth during Saturday night and it was NOT bad at all. So far, I am impressed.]

Of course I had to call bloody TDS. They confirmed that my line was disconnected in error. Their notes said, clearly, that I had asked for the phone line to be kept intact.

They said they would have the line back up in 30 minutes. THEY LIED.

210 minutes later it was still dead and they said they had to send a damn technician to the house to fix it. Sheer unadulterated incompetence. 

I really am despairing of TDS. IF I could get a land-line from ANYBODY else (and I think FairPoint is still on strike) I will do so.

Then I saw this on New Hampshire CraigsList.
